Moore Cove Falls, Pisgah National Forest, NC

After a stretch of dry weather in the North Carolina mountains, Moore Cove Falls wasn't the roaring cascade many hikers hope to find. Instead, a gentle, almost ghostlike veil of water drifted quietly over the rock, creating a moment of calm that seemed perfectly at home in the stillness of the forest. Sometimes the trail reminds us that beauty isn't always found in dramatic moments, but in the quiet ones we almost walk past.
I’ve called the South Carolina coast home for nearly 20 years. Today was the first time I ever crossed paths with a cross-country skier on the trail. (7997) 02.02.2026
Early morning in the Western North Carolina mountains, where the trail disappears quietly into the fog. (2790) 05.09.2025
Winter is mostly a rumor where I live now, on the South Carolina coast. But every so often it returns like an old friend—unannounced, nostalgic, and stirring memories of snowy trails and friendships I still miss. (7969) 02.01.2026
